You can request the issuance of a Personal Identification Document (DPI), Consular Identification Card and Guatemalan Passport

Appointments are made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 8:00 am.

IMPORTANT : OUR NATIONALS OVER 65 YEARS OLD DO NOT NEED AN APPOINTMENT FOR PROCEDURES AT THE GENERAL CONSULATE OF GUATEMALA IN COLUMBUS, OHIO, WELCOME WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT.

Guatemalans who wish to apply for a PASSPORT or CONSULAR CARD at the General Consulate of Guatemala in Columbus, Ohio must proceed as follows:

  • Verify your Guatemalan documents. Verify that your birth certificate has been issued within a range of no more than six months. If you have DPI, check that it is not expired.
  • Schedule your appointment through the GUATEMALA CONSULAR SERVICE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM.

We inform you that the appointment is personal, FREE and cannot be transferred.

If you wish to apply for a PASSPORT you must submit an original and a photocopy of ONE of the following documents:

  • Certificate of Birth issued by RENAP in force (not older than 6 months) with CUI number, both sides legible, stamp on the back or valid DPI.
  • Money order for $65.00 dollars. (Includes shipping and handling.)
  • Proof of current address.

If you wish to request a PASSPORT for a MINOR you must present the following documents in original and a photocopy:

  • OF THE MINOR; Certificate of Birth issued by RENAP in force (not older than 6 months) with CUI number, both sides legible, stamp on the back.
  • OF THE PARENTS; Valid birth certificate issued by RENAP (not older than 6 months) with CUI number, both sides legible, stamp on the back and/or current DPI. The presence of both parents. If one of the parents is in Guatemala, the Minor’s Passport Authorization must be signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or MINEX Departmental Delegations.
  • Proof of current address.

If you want a CONSULAR CARD you must present the original and a photocopy of ONE of the following documents:

  • Current DPI or Birth Certificate issued by RENAP in force (not older than 6 months), both sides legible, stamp on the back or Passport issued with DPI.
  • Money order $25.00 dollars. (Includes shipping and handling)
  • Proof of current address.

Civil Registry

  1. If you want BIRTH REGISTRATION you must present the following documents: Birth certificate of the minor legible and in good condition, the parents must be present with a Birth Certificate issued by RENAP with a minimum validity of six (6) months containing CUI number. If one of the parents is a foreigner, Birth Certificate (legal translation if it is in a language other than English or Spanish). They must also have another method of identification such as the Passport or the Personal Identification Document (DPI) or the certification of Personal Identification Document. If one of the contracting parties is a foreigner, valid passport from their country of origin.
  2. If you wish to REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE you must submit the following documents: Marriage certificate, legible and in good condition, of the spouses: Birth Certificate issued by RENAP with a minimum validity of six (6) months containing CUI number.
